Ritmuller

The Ritmuller piano company was originally founded in 1795 in Gottingen, Germany. They were one of the first factories in Germany and known as an innovator in piano design. Ritmuller conceived of the double soundboard that resulted in the characteristic warm, rich tone now called the “Euro Sound.”
Starting in 2001, Ritmuller pianos were made by the Guangzhou Pearl River company in China. Until about 2008, Pearl River’s Ritmuller pianos used much of the the same design as the Pearl River brand, differentiated mainly by the cabinet styles.
Piano designer Lothar Thomma, a well-respected German scale designer, was then hired to completely redesign the Ritmuller piano so that it would be a higher end line, distinctly separate from the Pearl River brand.
In other markets besides North America, these pianos were sold under the brand name Kayserburg.
