{"id":2305,"date":"2014-06-17T16:10:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-17T08:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tongtuning.com\/wordpress\/?p=2305"},"modified":"2021-09-17T21:58:57","modified_gmt":"2021-09-17T13:58:57","slug":"pianomakers-braces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tongtuning.com\/wordpress\/2305","title":{"rendered":"Pianomaker\u2019s Braces"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Hand-cranked bit braces are still used today for tightening large plate screws before pitch raising and general tuning, as this helps to secure pitch stability.<\/h5>\n<h5><!--more--><\/h5>\n<h5>Braces are also used to remove and replace plate screws when the large iron plate is removed during restoration for soundboard and bridge work.\u00a0 Standard steel ratchet braces are used for these structural related tasks, but before Black and Decker introduced the portable electric drill, hand braces and bow drills were commonly used for many lighter procedures.<\/h5>\n<h5>The braces specific to the piano industry were smaller, typically with a six-inch sweep or less, and were used for action work assembly and custom fitting of components, such as a damper tray in the back of the keybed.\u00a0 High torque was not necessary, but speed was important because of the sheer magnitude of all the small parts assembly involving the turning of a threaded screw.\u00a0 Just imagine all of those little parts, 88 times for each.<\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?vanity=Piano.Technician.HK&amp;set=a.4680503928634559\">Gallery<\/a><\/strong><\/h5>\n<div class=\"embedsocial-album\" data-ref=\"95a1a27b14082e856c8a6729fb14c7ce352d439e\"><a class=\"feed-powered-by-es\" title=\"Powered by EmbedSocial\" href=\"https:\/\/embedsocial.com\/facebook-albums\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Powered by EmbedSocial\u2192<\/a><\/div>\n<p><script>(function(d, s, id){var js;
